In 2025 Gustav starred in the lead role in Tomas Alfredson’s six-part adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s FAITHLESS which premiered at Toronto film festival in 2024. In 2024 Gustav appeared in the third season of the hit series INDUSTRY alongside Kit Harrington. The same year Gustav shot a starring role in Dara Van Dusen’s feature A PRAYER FOR THE DYING alongside Johnny Flynn and John C Reilly. In 2026 he will appear in an independent feature called WICKER starring Olivia Coleman, Alexander Skarsgard, Richard E. Grant and Elizabeth Debicki. Gustav also stars opposite Mads Mikkelsen in Nikolaj Arcel’s latest movie THE PROMISED LAND which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.

Gustav was nominated as a European Shooting Star of 2021. In 2020 he shot Robert Eggers’ feature THE NORTHMAN appearing alongside Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgard. Other credits include a starring role in the Danish feature QUEEN OF HEARTS alongside Trine Dyrholm and directed by May el-Toukhy, for which he won Best Supporting Actor at the 2020 Bodil Awards. In 2023 Gustav took on the lead role in CRIME AND PUNISHMENT directed by Oliver Frljic at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm to great critical acclaim and in 2025 performed the eponymous lead in HAMLET at the same theatre directed by Mattias Andersson.
